Have Fun While Refinancing: Cheap Ways to Enjoy Spring Break

This week, many children are on spring break in order to celebrate Easter and take some time off from classes. Naturally while your children are free you want to plan some fun outings, but when you are refinancing after bankruptcy money is always tight. Oftentimes it seems as if there isn't a cent to spare for a little luxury or some fun. But contrary popular belief, there are plenty of ways to have a blast without having to let go of your dollar bills. When the kids are out of school, here are some practical ways to have fun as a family without breaking the bank and pushing yourself into a dangerous financial position.

When the family is all together, plan an outing to a park. Public parks are free, and they're the perfect place to enjoy the weather on a sunny spring day. Pack a picnic lunch and spend some time playing Frisbee or soccer on the grass. You can also opt for a hike if you have trails like this in your area. Hiking is not only great fun, but it's great exercise and it's free. Also, check to see what city-sponsored attractions are available in your area. Some places have wonderful museums which are open to the public for little to no entrance fee. These museums are educational and often very beautiful, with something new on every wall.

If you have younger children, let them play in the sprinklers outside on a sunny day, or draw with sidewalk chalk on the driveway. Children are immensely creative, and a little spontaneity can go a long way. Also, some public parks have tennis courts and basketball courts, where you and your family can enjoy some friendly competition with no price tag attached. Borrow board games with friends or watch a movie for some fun family time together after dinner. Another cheap, classic spring break activity is a camp out in the back yard. Young children love the excitement of sleeping outdoors, and if you stay within your property you won't need to pay the camping grounds fines that are attached with renting a site. Roast marshmallows in the oven for some homemade s'mores to complete the camp out.

It never hurts to spark your children's entrepreneurial side by helping them to set up a lemonade stand in the neighborhood. With just a few lemons, some sugar, and some water, the kids can make their own little profit. Another cheap, fun spring break activity is planting a garden. Get some seeds at your local nursery and set them up in fertile soil at your home. Teach your children how to cultivate the plants, and show them how to incorporate the vegetables into dishes when you cook. Not only is this a free activity, but it yields a profit when you grow produce that you would otherwise have to spend cash on at the store.

While these are just a few suggestions to get your mind going, there are hundreds of ways to have fun for less this spring. Don't let your financial position get you down. By saving money and being creative, you will be able to get back on track financially, and eventually be debt free. When it comes to saving money, don't compromise. Shelling out bills so that your children can go to a theme park is not the best idea when you are trying to pay off accumulated debt. Instead, spend frugally until you are back on track, and enjoy fun the creative way!
