Woman Sentenced to Prison for Bankruptcy Fraud

A Georgia woman has been convicted of  bankruptcy fraud, an act that has cost her 15 years in prison.

U.S. District Judge Joseph F. Anderson, Jr. sentenced 43-year-old Amanda Boulware to 15 years in prison for making a fraudulent statement on her bankruptcy petition.

When Boulware filed her Chapter 13 bankruptcy petition in 2007, she intentionally failed to list nine previous bankruptcy cases she had filed in the past. She then certified that her new petition was true and accurate.

At the time she filed the petition, she was three months into an earlier court order that prohibited her from filing another bankruptcy petition for 5 years.

Boulware's case was investigated by both the FBI and the United States Trustee's Office.
